Cyber Security Forum
October 27, 2009
The Madison Policy Forum was formed by Michael Sheehan and Vincent Viola with the aim of creating a balanced and fact-based dialogue between public and private sector experts to address current national security issues. The goal of each forum conference and subsequent report is to clearly, specifically, and concisely describe the nature of the selected threat to our national security. Policy recommendations will be provided as appropriate but are secondary to a clear description of the issues that will assist in the development of sound national policy. Each conference will produce a report that will include fact sheets, Q&A’s with selected experts, and an overview essay.
The first conference of the MPF will be on cyber security, and will be moderated by MPF Executive Director Michael A. Sheehan and Paul Kurtz of Good Harbor Consulting. In the morning session we will discuss the nature of the criminal and national security cyber threat to our nation. Special attention will be given to the challenge of Russia and China and the foreign policy implications of each. Case studies will be briefed to bring specificity to the issue. The afternoon session will address some of the policy implications of the growing threat.
